Kevin Compton, General Partner, Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield, & Byers.
Kevin R. Compton is a General Partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Silicon Valley’s most successful high technology venture capital firm. Kevin and his partners have invested in many of the most powerful and high profile start-ups over the past 30 years, including America On-Line, Compaq Computers, Lotus Development, Sun Microsystems, Intuit, SkyTel, Tandem Computers, Genentech, Citrix Systems, Netscape Communications, Amazon.com and Juniper Networks. These companies employ over 300,000 people, have annual sales in excess of $100 billion and carry a public market value in excess of $160 billion.
Kevin has been featured in many technology publications, has been profiled in Fortune, Forbes and Inc. Magazine, and helped edit “Guide to the Digital Universe”. He is a regular speaker for many of the nations largest corporations offering a sneak preview into the direction of the computer and communications industries. Kevin serves on the board of a dozen public and private technology companies and has been rated as one of the Top 20 Venture Capitalists in the World.
The church and his family are at the center of Kevin’s world. Kevin has been married to his high school sweetheart for 25 years, has a daughter attending Duke University and a son at Valley Christian High School. Kevin has served many years on the board of his local church, has been the church treasurer and has taught a weekly Bible Study to almost 200 seniors for 14 years.
Outside of work Kevin enjoys family time, coaching Pop Warner Football and PONY League Baseball. His passion for sports extends into the professional sports area as well. Kevin is the co-owner of the National Hockey League San Jose Sharks, the American Hockey League Cleveland Barons and the Major Soccer League Champion San Jose Earthquakes.
